Thursday, February 25th 2010 I said goodbye to Hanna. I started missing her right after she took her last breath. I feel so lucky to have had a best friend and roommate like her. Even though I got her at the age of 20, I feel like we grew up together. She taught me so many things about unconditional love, patience, and forgiveness. She also taught me how to sleep on five inches of the bed and the difference between crap rawhide and the good rawhide. She never thought of herself as a dog. The floor was not the place for her. No matter where we went — the vet, people’s homes, or waiting outside somewhere, if there was a chair/bench that is was where she would sit. She even convinced the vet that her exams would take place with her sitting on a chair and not on an exam table. She could make strangers on the street stop and pet her with just one look. Once she got them to pet her she knew how to take advantage of a good scratch by leaning on them and looking up at them as if asking them not to stop and it would work. I never thought I would look forward to continuing to find tinylittle red hairs all over my clothes and house. Her gentle sweet spiritis what made her the world’s best dog. She is leaving behind a very sad heartbroken human.
